But have you noticed the chemical symbol\u00a0Br\u00a0in these columns?\u00a0Bromine is a\u00a0reddish-brown liquid\u00a0that is never naturally found in its elemental form. Bromine is extracted from salt lakes where the element is especially abundant, such as the Dead Sea bordering Jordan and Israel.\u00a0Today around 500,000 tons of bromine are estimated to be produced annually on a worldwide basis.
