On the 4th of September it took place the 2020 China Antimony Industry Conference in Changde, Hunan Province. Harry Du, Secretary-General of BSEF China, presented the latest updates in the global standards and regulations related to flame retardants.

Harry Du made reference to the EU Eco-design regulation and explained that “the EU made a mistake in restricting halogenated flame retardants in its updated eco-design regulation for e-display, for it is unjustified, discriminational and groundless”.

During his presentation, Harry Du pointed out that the flame retardants industry, as per the global chemical industry is facing challenges, but brominated flame retardants is stable industry growth and key to address societal needs.

“The gradual improvement of domestic fire safety directives and regulations casts new opportunities for the whole flame retardant industry”, he concluded.

The conference counted with presentations from key experts from the Chinese chemical industry.
